Psychotraumatology Theory & Therapy Training for Mental Health Professionals

We are happy to announce our new training Psychotraumatology Theory & Therapy Training for Mental Health Professionals. 

Part of the training is online, and part is in person

Our first module starts in september 2022. The training will be conducted in English.


Course structure:

The training is structured in three parts namely theory, the therapist, and treatment.

Both, part 1 (Theory) and 3 (Treatment) are online. Recordings are available.

Part 2 is in person.

Learning Objectives:
  • Trainees will be able to list the various developmental consequences of trauma and recognize the widespread impact of trauma.
  • Trainees will be able to tell the theoretical and practical knowledge of trauma.
  • Trainees will be able to differentiate the mechanism which lead to dissociation.
  • Trainees will be able to schedule dissociation on the various dissociation continuums.
  • Trainees will be able to practice skills learned and acquired during the theoretical part.
  • Trainees will be able through personal therapy to apply theory and treatment.
  • Trainees will be able to implement strategies for intervention and treatment.
  • Trainees will be able to map the case conceptualization through a trauma sensitive model.
  • Trainees will be able to combine bio-psycho-cognitive-relational-social-spiritual approaches in order of treating trauma.
  • Trainees will be able to design a tailor-made treatment plan, based on the unique presentation of the client.
  • Trainees will be able to set up a treatment plan with the aim of achieving wholeness and integration.
  • To obtain the certificate it is required to deliver a thesis in the form of a case study.

Minimum selection requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health and must be active as a mental health professional.

Target group: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychiatric Nurses…

Attendees will be interviewed before a final registration.
This procedure will take place in Sint-Margriete at Traumacenter Belgium.
